Learn how to cast on (long tail cast on):

In this tutorial, we show how to cast on your knitting. There are several methods, but here we show one of the most classic and easy ways to do it. First you cast on a double cross loop. Then continue until you have cast on the number of stitches you want.

There is no wrong way to cast on, as long you end up with the correct number of stitches. So if this method does not suit you, you can find other methods, such as for example the Italian bind on method.
