Highland wool is a high-quality wool yarn from Danish Isager, with an amazing structure and beautiful, slightly mixed colors. Isager Highland Wool is softer than most other highland wool yarns.

100% Peruvian Highland Wool.

Sold in balls of 50 g.

50 g = 275 m.

Suitable for needle size 3mm.

Highland wool is a pure wool yarn spun with three threads. Isager Highland Wool is a significantly softer wool than most other highland wool yarns. The yarn has an amazing structure and is made from Peruvian Highland Wool. We like to knit Highland Wool on its own, as for instance the Limoncello sweater with lace pattern, and the Dervish sweater with stripes. Highland Wool also works well with other yarns, e.g. with Alpaca 1 as we have done in our Daggry shawl and hat.

Origin of the yarn:

Highland Wool is spun and dyed in Peru for the Danish yarn brand Isager. Isager is a respected brand among knitters in Denmark and worldwide, due to their high quality and luxurious yarn.

The company was founded by Åse Lund Jensen, who contributed greatly to the art of knitting with her yarns and knit designs. Today Isager is owned by Marianne Isager and her daughter Helga Isager, who continue to inspire knitters through their knitting books.

Isager today produce around different 20 types of yarn, all of which are of high quality and lovely to work with. See more Isager Yarn here.

Washing instructions:

We recommend hand washing your Isager Highland Wool yarn at 30 degrees.

Wool does not require washing as often as other textiles, and it is therefore sustainable in daily use as it saves resources from washing. If your wool clothes need “freshing up” hanging it outside will often be sufficient.

Washing instructions for your knitwear
Wool can last for years, but it requires good care. Washing is tough on your woolen garments and in general wool needs to be washed much less than other materials as it has a self-cleaning effect. Often it is enough to hang your woolen sweater / garment outside in the humid weather or bring it with you into the bathroom, when you take a long, hot shower - the steam will often be enough to freshen it up it and remove any unwanted odors.

Specifically for knitwear knitted in Önling's Everyday Kit
Neither Önling No 12 nor No 13, is pre-washed when you receive it on cones. You get the best result if you soak your finished knitted garment in lukewarm water for approx. 2 hours. Then wash the garment as you would otherwise with washing detergent for wool, either by hand or on a wool program in your washing machine. Dry it by laying it flat.

Specifically for knitwear knitted in Önling's Silk kit
As the Silk Kit from Önling contains 3 different qualities (linen, wool and silk), we recommend that you always wash your silk sweater / garment by hand, to avoid it changing shape or appearance during wash. The three qualities will react differently to water, temperatures, etc. Önling can not take responsibility for the result if you wash your silk sweater in the washing machine. Your garment made from the silk kit should NOT be spun or tumble dried. Instead, dry it by laying it flat.

We serve customers worldwide!

Unfortunately, regulation, distances and language barriers make this a complex task, so in order to best serve all our customers we have set up 3 different web shops targeted to different countries.

Önling is based in Denmark, part of the European Union, so the main distinction is that we have to charge Danish VAT of 25% when selling to countries within the EU. Customers from countries outside of the European Union can purchase our products without paying VAT. Customers within the EU should therefore visit our EU store, whereas customers outside the EU should visit our international INT store. Both these stores are in English, so in addition to this we have a web shop in Danish for our Danish customers (who also pay VAT).
